Lawyer of the People Certification
The Trial Lawyers College trains lawyers who serve the needs of the people. To that end, we do not accept students who serve the needs of government or corporate entities.
Thank you for choosing to give to the Trial Lawyers College, a 501(c)(3) organization. You can elect to give to the College by becoming a Sustaining Member at either the Warrior level or Tribe level; make a one-time or recurring contribution; "Pay it Forward" by giving a scholarship; or working with our Executive Director to donate stocks, include us in your donor advisor fund, and remember TLC in your estate planning. Pick you way of giving to the College below. Thank You!
TLC is proud of the fact that we are an organization that is solely dependent on this gifts of our students, alumni, and individual supports. We do not accept any money or grants from corporations or from the federal or state government (save one COVID grant we accepted in 2020).
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match contributions made to the Trial Lawyers College by their employees. Check with your employers to find out if you or your spouse’s or partner's company has a matching gift program.
If you would like more information about ways you can give to TLC, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Executive Director, Becky Barlow at Becky@triallawyerscollege.org or call her at our office at (307) 217-6714.
Like so many non-profit organizations in 2020, COVID had a severe financial impact on the Trial Lawyers College. We had to cancel all of our seminars in 2020. Courts closed, cases ground to a halt, and TLC alumni tightened their belts. As did we. We cut our general operating expenses by 50% in 2020.
When we couldn't train in person, we learned how to provide training by Zoom, which we did throughout 2021 when the travel precautions were still in place. In 2023, we have finally resumed our in-person trainings, but we now confront the inflated costs of meeting venues and other general expenses.
Your gift to Support our Programs will help ensure that we can continue to provide training courses every month to plaintiff trial lawyers and criminal defense lawyers across this country. Your gift will help us pay for food and lodging at our seminars, continue the work performed by our paid instructors, employ our 3 full-time administrative staff including our Executive Director, our Financial Officer, and our Student Services Coordinator.
We pledge that every dollar you contribute to Support our Programs will be spent with the utmost care to ensure that the quality of our training is in no way compromised by inflation or other unforeseen circumstances.

Because TLC does not accept monies or grants from corporations or from governments, our long-term Sustaining Members provide the backbone of support for the College. With a 10-year commitment of $1,200.00/year ($12,000 total), the College can rely upon a steady stream of guaranteed revenue to pay the general operating expenses required to maintain our College and its services for 2,400 alumni and over 8,000 students.
These funds ensure we can provide all of the student services that are necessary to preserve our community of lawyers and their opportunities to learn together to constantly improve their craft so they can be the best possible advocates for their clients. Your monthly contribution of $100, or an annual contribution of $1,200 will help the College continue to grow and flourish.

As one measures the quality of one's life, remembering the kindnesses we have shown, and been shown, is often at the top of the list. Many gifts to the TLC Scholarship Fund are made by lawyers who were once recipients of a scholarship themselves, pledging now to remember those who "paid it forward" so that they could pursue their training with TLC at a time they didn't have the funds.
TLC is deeply grateful to our alumni and Scholarship Donors who give generously so that the cost of tuition is not a barrier to their important training at the College. The TLC Scholarship Fund is a restricted fund and your gifts will solely go to Scholarship Recipients.
You can give a general scholarship, or you can designate it to a particular student, a member of a certain community, or a student at a specific TLC Class. You can direct your gift as you so choose to ensure that your monies provide the benefits to those you find most deserving.
The Trial Lawyers College is dedicated to training and educating lawyers and judges who are committed to the jury system and to representing and obtaining justice for individuals; the poor, the injured, the forgotten, the voiceless, the defenseless and the damned, and to protecting the rights of such people from corporate and government oppression.
In all of its activities, the Trial Lawyers College will foster and nourish an open atmosphere of caring for people regardless of their race, age, creed, religion, nation origin, physical abilities, gender, or sexual orientation. We do not offer training for those lawyers who represent government, corporations, or large business interests.
The Trial Lawyers College trains lawyers who serve the needs of the people. To that end, we do not accept students who serve the needs of government or corporate entities.
