Indigent Representation Virtual Course - June 2025

June 27-June 28, 2025
Indigent representation requires special skills. Elevate your ability to connect with your clients, navigate the complexities of their cases, and present a compelling direct examination.

Do it! If you represent indigent clients, these skills are vital in order to properly fight for your clients at trial.

The virtual format was surprisingly conducive to practicing the psychodramatic method and provided an opportunity to more conveniently attend a seminar and meet people from all over the country.

We offer a space where students can bring the hopelessness and exhaustion that often comes from fighting with the government and more resourced adversaries. We help them re-imagine theirtrial prep and trial skills. We help them regain "agency" in the courtroom. And maybe most importantly, we offer students a cohort that they can stay in touch with to continue theirown evolution and skill growth.

"That they are not alone. That they can reach out for help among their cohort and faculty. That they can give themselves permission to seek out rest and support. That they are valued and that their work is seen and valued. Just knowing that you no longer have to go it alone is hugely helpful."

The TLC Method helps lawyers to overcome the prejudices and biases against indigent clients, and helps judges and juries instead to connect to these clients' true stories.

About TLC's Indigent Representation Virtual Course - June 2025

For over 30 years, the original Trial Lawyers College has discovered that a deeper understanding of oneself leads to a richer comprehension of clients, opposing counsel, judges, and, ultimately, jurors. The most effective manner to gain this deeper understanding is through psychodrama led by licensed specialists. Psychodrama provides lawyers the ability to put stories into action, keeping the human factor as part of the equation during all parts of a trial. TLC-trained trial lawyers have proven time and again how the chances of winning dramatically increase if the jurors can better experience what the client has experienced using the TLC Method.

Indigent representation requires special skills.  Elevate your ability to connect with your clients, navigate the complexities of their cases and present a compelling direct examination.

Take advantage of this virtual opportunity to work with licensed psychodramatists and learn from experienced TLC faculty in small groups with the possibility of working on your own case fact pattern.

Join us and unlock the keys to effective trial advocacy for indigent clients with like-minded lawyers. This course is specifically for those licensed lawyers who mainly represent indigent clients.  We will review all registrations to verify this status. If necessary, refunds will be considered for any registration from a lawyer who does not fit this description.

In addition, this is an interactive training with the expectation of each student to fully participate under the guidance of licensed psychodramatists and lawyers who have extensive training and experience with the TLC Method. Each student should plan to attend via Zoom with their cameras on and on a device that allows the ability to view all members of their small group.  These sessions are not for public viewing as discussions contain private and confidential information. All in attendance should plan to be in a stationary, quiet and private environment to ensure the safety and privacy of all involved.

To make this course the most impactful event it can be, space is limited to 20.
No Scholarships will be offered for this course at this time.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Given the high cost of providing courses at easily accessible venues nationwide and those venues’ strict cancellation policies, TLC has had to make changes to its cancellation policy. To lessen the impact of this change in policy on our tribe, we offer the following options:
1. In the case where a student needs to cancel, they have 31 days prior to the course to cancel and receive a full refund. If it is after the 31-day deadline, to receive a full refund they may contact Brooklyn@triallawyerscollege.org with the name of a replacement student who is prepared to take their place. This is especially important to cover the cost of the committed lodging. After the replacement student completes registration including full payment, a full refund will be processed.
2. If no replacement is found for their reserved spot prior to the program, we will apply 50% of the paid tuition as a credit towards a future program, to be used within one year, and use the other 50% towards the unused lodging expense of the course cancelled. If you have any questions, please contact Brooklyn@triallawyerscollege.org.
