Women Who Win: Empowering Women in the Courtroom

February 19-23, 2025
Learn the winning TLC Method of Voir Dire and the art of reading people through both verbal and physical cues. The course will start with the original TLC practice of training trial lawyers with psychodrama by licensed specialists. Psychodrama provides lawyers the ability to put stories into action, keeping the human factor as part of the equation during all parts of a trial. Trial lawyers are placed in small groups to learn about each other and themselves to become more aware of our differences and similarities. This knowledge will strengthen storytelling techniques to make courtroom presentations more effective and persuasive.

Life changing. Truly.

Loved the whole thing. It was put together with love and it showed. Wished it was longer and there was more psychodrama.

This course was incredible, invaluable, and life-changing. I had heard wonderful things aboutthe women's seminar in particular and the college more generally, and this still exceeded myexpectations. I feel transformed as a human, a woman, and a lawyer. I am forever grateful forthis experience, and I am so thankful it was with a group of women.

I would come back every year that I could. I will donate time and money to make sure this isavailable in the future!

I am so glad I attended the Women's TLCConference and I am even more grateful that my first TLC experience was in an all women-environment. I now have more eagerness and confidence to attend more TLC courses!

About TLC's Women Who Win: Empowering Women in the Courtroom

Learn the winning TLC Method of Voir Dire and the art of reading people through both verbal and physical cues.  The course will start with the original TLC practice of training trial lawyers with psychodrama by licensed specialists. Psychodrama provides lawyers the ability to put stories into action, keeping the human factor as part of the equation during all parts of a trial.  Trial lawyers are placed in small groups to learn about each other and themselves to become more aware of our differences and similarities. This knowledge will strengthen storytelling techniques to make courtroom presentations more effective and persuasive.

Specific focus on practicing the art of applying psychodrama to Voir Dire with the TLC Method will be the focus of more small group work lead by specially trained and experienced trial lawyers. More specifically, attending lawyers will learn new ways to discover the story of their cases and identify and develop the unique themes of those stories that recur in every phase of the trial.  Using the TLC integrated methods, lawyers will learn how to understand and develop important emotional connections with the client, the case, and the jurors that are vital to ultimately winning justice for their clients.

TLC-trained trial lawyers have proven time and again how the chances of winning dramatically increase if the jurors can better experience what the client has experienced using the TLC Method.

Tuition Includes: TLC method training in both large and small groups, buffet style meals as indicated on the agenda and shared jack & jill rooms (single rooms connected with a shared bathroom). Attendees must secure their own transportation.

Originally established as the Scarritt Bible and Training School for Women Missionaries in 1892 in Kansas City, MO, the Scarritt Bennett Center relocated to Nashville, TN, in 1924. Spearheaded by Belle Bennett, a socially conscious woman of the upper class, who boldly advocated against racial discrimination, lynching, and the silencing of women's voices during a time when societal norms dictated otherwise. Today, as we celebrate our 100-year history in Nashville, we continue to honor the legacy of our school and Belle Bennett's vision for a world free of racism, where women are empowered to make a difference by raising their voices, where education transforms hearts and minds, and our community is continually offered opportunities for spiritual enrichment. Led by a century of vision, we are continuing to build a lasting legacy.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Given the high cost of providing courses at easily accessible venues nationwide and those venues’ strict cancellation policies, TLC has had to make changes to its cancellation policy. To lessen the impact of this change in policy on our tribe, we offer the following options:
1. In the case where a student needs to cancel, they have 31 days prior to the course to cancel and receive a full refund. If it is after the 31-day deadline, to receive a full refund they may contact Brooklyn@triallawyerscollege.org with the name of a replacement student who is prepared to take their place. This is especially important to cover the cost of the committed lodging. After the replacement student completes registration including full payment, a full refund will be processed.
2. If no replacement is found for their reserved spot prior to the program, we will apply 50% of the paid tuition as a credit towards a future program, to be used within one year, and use the other 50% towards the unused lodging expense of the course cancelled. If you have any questions, please contact Brooklyn@triallawyerscollege.org.
